2025 Chicago Tile Expo The Chicago Tile Expo, taking place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Addison, Illinois, is a free educational event tailored for architects, contractors, and construction professionals. Sponsored by the International Masonry Institute (IMI) and the Tile Contractors’ Association of America (TCAA), the expo offers attendees 3 LU/HSW credits and covers the latest best practices in large format tile (LFT) design and installation. Participants will gain hands-on insights through a guided tour of tile installation mockups, exploring every phase from substrate preparation to grouting. The program also emphasizes ANSI grout standards, grout aesthetic considerations, and TCNA-compliant expansion joint requirements to ensure durable, high-performance tile assemblies. The seminar features expert presentations from industry leaders including Scott Conwell, FAIA, of IMI; Mike Spatz, tile coordinator at the BAC District Council Training Center; and Tyler Barton, a seasoned MAPEI representative. Their collective expertise spans architecture, apprenticeship training, and product development, offering a comprehensive look at setting methods, system components, and code compliance in tile work. Attendees will benefit from in-depth discussions on grout selection, tile alignment, and post-installation care, all while enjoying networking opportunities and a complimentary lunch. The event aims to elevate professional knowledge and support healthier, more aesthetically pleasing built environments.

The 2025 Flooring Sustainability Summit, taking place July 16–17 at the historic Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., brings together leading voices across the flooring industry to tackle the rapidly evolving sustainability landscape. Hosted by key industry associations—including CRI, NWFA, NSI, NALFA, RFCI, and TCNA—the Summit will convene policymakers, manufacturers, architects, designers, procurement officers, and sustainability advocates for two days of dynamic discussions, networking, and collaborative working groups. Programming will include a pre-summit workshop for newcomers and sessions exploring critical areas such as shifting regulations, circular economy strategies, and the integration of sustainability across the supply chain. Attendees will gain tools to make informed business decisions, align with market trends, and stay ahead of regulatory expectations. With increasing demand for eco-conscious building materials and stricter sustainability standards, the Summit offers a timely opportunity for industry professionals to shape the future of green building. As Bill Griese, Chairman of the Summit and TCNA Deputy Executive Director, emphasized, this event has become the premier forum for aligning industry-wide efforts in sustainability. Key themes will include ESG principles, green procurement strategies, and actionable approaches to circular design and responsible resource use. Attendees will also explore how to improve stakeholder collaboration and communicate sustainability goals effectively across sectors.
